David Room

This room features three major figures from early French Neoclassicism; David, with five paintings, Vien, native to Montpellier and a pioneer of the style in France, and also Vincent. Antique subjects and portraits, painted or sculpted, predominate in these works from before 1789 and the end of the Ancient Regime. Built in 1867-1868 during the municipal library's first expansion, this book reserve held the donation from Father Flottes. He was a professor of philosophy at the university and bequeathed an exceptional collection of medieval Arab manuscripts.
