The Musée Fabre hosted the temporary exhibition 'The Subjects of Abstraction', December 8th 2011 - March 18th 2012. It featured 101 masterpieces from the Gandur Art Foundation.

For this exhibition the museum Education Service produced documents for teachers to help them prepare, prolong and accompany their visit to the exhibition.
The landscape theme, adopted by numerous abstract artists whose work was featured in the exhibition, can be completed by looking at landscapes painted during previous centuries which can be seen in the Musée Fabre's permanent collections.
